DAVAO PEACE FAIR 2016

The Davao Peace Fair was held from September 14 - 20, 2016, with a culminating event on September 21 in observance of the United Nations International Day of Peace, whose theme was “Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace.”  The affair, which was held at the SM City Davao Annex Activity Center in Ecoland, Davao City, was organized by the National Nutrition Council of the Philippines Region XI, Bramah Kumaris, Global Impact, and SGI Philippines.  Government and private organizations and institutions were invited to promote their advocacies aligned with the theme, such as peace workshops, mediation activities for peace, and a peace forum hosted by SGI-Davao.

In line with the event’s theme, SGI Philippines mounted a photo exhibit which focused on quality education, gender equality, reduced inequality, peace, justice, and strong institution.   Youth members from SGI-Davao shared SGI publications such as the Pag-Asa and SGI Quarterly, and also provided behind-the-scenes logistics for the program.  Women’s division members manned the SGI booth and engaged in the sharing of insights about peace. Other activities in the event were the showing of the official SGI video “Our Shared Humanity,” and song and dance numbers with SGI members as some of the performers.
