My name is Shivyka Sharma and I started chanting with my mom when I was 6 years old. The Gohonzon has always turned all my sadness into happiness. Today I would like to share my story with all of you. In January this year when I started School after vacation I was very sad. Everyday going to school became a challenge. I could not understand the reason behind this. My mom asked me to chant for 10 mins every night before going to bed. I started doing it regularly. She also gave me SGI children's books to read where I learnt "to never give up and to always have hope."
Just when all this was happening, I caught a bad cold that turned into an ear infection. On seeing the doctor, we were told that my ear needed a small surgery, that very moment I started chanting in the hospital as I did not want any surgery. Then my mother decided to get a second opinion with another doctor in the same hospital. The second doctor had been my Pediatrician from the time I was born. I continued chanting Nam myoho renge kyo for 45 minutes and when the doctor saw us, she told us that it could be treated with antibiotics. So this was my first victory.
After this, I became regular with my chanting and started feeling happy too. In February, there was a bully in my class, who always used to bother me. I did not know how to handle her so I continued chanting Nam myoho renge kyo. In March I attended the kids meeting and I was happy as I learnt how to handle bullies. I started ignoring her behavior and soon I noticed a change in her attitude towards me.
Few days after that, we became good friends. She also came to my birthday party in May.
Today, I would like to thank Aunty Takako and Aunty Aayana for what they have done for us.
I also want to thank my Parents and the Gohonzon too.
