The book, “Global Citizenship: Toward a Civilization of Wisdom, Love and Peace,” a dialogue between SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Dr. Jose V. Abueva, former President of the University of the Philippines (UP) and founder of Kalayaan College, was launched on May 25, 2016 at the Balay Kalinaw (House of Peace), also commonly known as the Ikeda Hall, at the UP Diliman Campus in Quezon City.

In his speech, Dr. Abueva expressed his deep appreciation to those who have worked for the publication of the book, most especially to co-author President Ikeda.  He also stated that the title of the dialogue book itself signifies the great wish and hope which they uphold for the youth, not only in the Philippines and Japan, but also around the world.

Friends of President Ikeda who have celebrated the publication of the book include Atty. Rogelio Quiambao, former Supreme Commander of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Justice Rodolfo Palattao, former President of the Universidad de Manila, Dr. Zosimo Battad, Chancellor of the University of the East, Caloocan campus, and Dr. Jasmin Nario-Galace, Director of the Center for Peace Education of Miriam College.

Soka University alumni and exchange students also participated in the ceremony, where they sang the “Soka University Song.”

The second book launching was held on July 3, 2016 at the SGI Philippines Culture Center in Quezon City.  It was attended by members of SGI Philippines, especially the youth division, who were all excited to see Dr. Abueva personally.  Also present were the Soka University alumni and exchange students.
