On September 8, 1957, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda made a key declaration condemning nuclear weapons, thus marking the beginning of the Soka Gakkai’s activities for nuclear abolition.

The day in 1960 when Daisaku Ikeda, recently inaugurated as third president of the Soka Gakkai, embarked on his first trip abroad for the purpose of expanding the organization’s international development.
