The Young Mrs., a group under the Women’s Division of SGI-Philippines, was founded on April 11, 1986. To commemorate its 40th anniversary, a Young Mrs. Commemorative Meeting and Seminar was held on April 11 and 12, 2026 at the Philippine Culture Center in Timog, Quezon City. A total of 122 Young Mrs. in-charges from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, together with National Women’s Division leaders participated in the meeting with the theme, “Building Confidence, Stability, and Parenting as Young Mothers of Soka.”
The seminar on the first day focused on the significance of the observation of Young Mrs. Day. The activities of the Young Mrs. in 2025 and the corresponding attendance were presented, with an update on the activities of the group for 2026. The newly-appointed Young Mrs. in-charges gave their personal convictions that would help them in the fulfillment of their tasks.
In the second part, a lecture was given on the Gosho, “On Practicing the Buddha’s Teachings,” which deepened our understanding and realization of the importance of our Buddhist practice. The next segment featured the “Gandang Buhay, Mars!” in the format of a talk show with national WD leaders as guest panelists. The interaction gave us more encouragement, inspiration, and guidance with regard to our faith and in dealing positively with our fellow SGI members.
Other activities held during the first day include a team-building activity which promoted creativity and critical thinking, a question-and-answer game about Buddhist terms and principles, and song and dance presentations by each General Headquarters in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. To cap off the first day, members had an evening get-together.
